Defend Life, Aug.-Sept., 1998, Vol. 10, No. 6

A tale of two presidents

By Tres Kerns
He is the best of presidents;
He is the worst of presidents.
He loved his country;
He hated his country.
There is peace and prosperity;
There is scandal and moral decline.
The economy is great;
The national debt is greater.
Foreign affairs are in the hands of
   the United Nations;
Foreign money was handed over to
   American politicians.
Education is the issue of the day;
Education can't teach its children
to learn.
Sex sells everything;
Everybody sells sex.
The White House sells everything;
The American people buy whatever
   they are sold.
Lying and cheating are in;
Honor and honesty are out.
He lives his life without a care in
   the world;
The world didn't care how he lived
   his life.
The nation watched as he visited
   China;
China watches us with our own
   technology.
Our President's popularity has
   never been higher;
Our values never lower.
We have ended the cold war;
We have troops engaged
throughout the world.
Stocks are up;
Families and God are down.
Yes, scandals abound
Churches are empty.
The year two thousand approaches
The computers are crashing
And all is good in America
And all that is bad in America is
   popular.
But at last, we voted in our
   quintessential American
   politician
And America will never be the
   same.
It is truly the best of times, isn't it?
